Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online launches Monday

Microsoft's cloud software for salespeople, Dynamics CRM Online 2011, launched Monday. The customer-relationship management software helps corporate sales teams manage contacts and deals.

With this launch, Microsoft will compete head to head with Salesforce.com in San Francisco, which has sold Web-based customer-relationship management software for several years.

Microsoft will also sell a new version of its non-cloud Dynamics CRM 2011 software that businesses can install on their computers and that Microsoft partners can offer as a private cloud service.

Dynamics CRM Online hopes to gain share early on with lower prices. The cloud service will cost $34 per user per month for the first 12 months for people who sign up by June 30. Salesforce.com has several price points, but its most popular version costs $125 per user per month.

Microsoft is also trying to win over Oracle and Salesforce.com customers by offering a $200 cash rebate to people who switch to Dynamics CRM Online.

Microsoft says 11,500 people tried out the beta test version of Dynamics CRM 2011. The cloud version is available in 40 markets and 41 languages.

Microsoft is holding a launch event at 9 a.m. Monday that you can watch online.

You can find out more about the software at the Dynamics CRM site.
