Siemens Science competition: what draws you to science?

Thanks to Canon, the sponsors of our Ars TV site, we were given the opportunity to meet with the high school students that competed in this year's Siemens Science Competition. The finalists in the competition, who had made their way through regional runoffs, had the chance to present their research to a panel of judges from the research community. By the time the weekend was over, a half-million dollars of scholarship money was handed out.

We had the chance to talk to the finalists about their research and how they ended up getting involved in a community that's mostly composed of people at the PhD level or higher. One thing that really stood out was how enthused the students were to be doing research at all. So, we've given the students the chance to explain what drew them into research in the first place, and the rewards they got out of it.
