Microsoft has named Chris Capossela senior vice president for Microsoft marketing across all products.
Capossela was the former senior vice president for marketing in the Microsoft Business Division and he worked on launching Office 2010 last year. He will become head of Consumer Channels and the Central Marketing Group. Microsoft announced the promotion on Wednesday.
He replaces Mich Mathews, who said last week she was retiring after two decades. Capossela has also worked at Microsoft for 20 years. At one point, he served as Bill Gates' speech assistant. In the business division, Capossela also worked on SharePoint, Office 365 and Lync.
In his new job he will report to Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner, working with retail channels, distribution partners and PC manufacturers. He will also be in charge of marketing, advertising and corporate communications.
