BARCELONA, Spain -- Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer said Nokia's mapping and location services will power the mapping in Bing across platforms as part of the two companies' partnership announced Friday.
Ballmer spoke during a keynote speech at Mobile World Congress.
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, a former division president at Microsoft, joined Ballmer on stage and reiterated the company's goal of creating a third ecosystem to rival Google and Apple.
"The world is shifting from a battle of devices to a war of ecosystems," Elop said. "... Microsoft and Nokia together represent a natural partnership."
He did not give any more details (since two days ago) about when the first Nokia phone running on Windows Phone 7 would come out.
