Mobile World: Video of LG's 3D Optimus smartphone in action

BARCELONA, Spain - South Korean electronics company LG showed its Optimus 3D smartphone, a phone with a 3-D display and a 3-D camera.

You can get the three-dimensional effect without the use of special glasses, which many 3-D televisions require. The phone was announced in January, but this was the first time LG showed the phone in working order. The phone will run Google's operating system Android 2.2 Froyo, but can be upgraded to 2.3 Gingerbread.

It has a 4.3-inch screen, two 5-megapixel cameras, a 1-gigahertz dual-core and dual-channel OMAP4 processor and 8 gigabytes of storage. The phone can play 1080p high-definition video in regular 2D, and 720p video in 3D. It also has an HDMI port so you can take the 3D video you've captured and play it on a 3D television.

The company will start selling the phone in the second quarter of this year in Europe, but it has not announced the price or plans to sell it in the U.S.
