Weird Science wants to be bitten by younger sharks

Wimpy shark bites: What do you do if your local bather protection program captures a 2.5 meter great white shark? Make a computer model of its bite force, obviously. The model demonstrates that, despite how dangerous a shark of that size might seem, it's actually relatively safe compared to a 3m version. By the time they reach that age, which is in their early 20s, the shark's jaws are much more structurally robust, allowing them to generate far more force when they chomp down.

Measuring cancer risk with your fingers: All the males reading, hold up your hands. Is your index finger longer than your ring finger? If so, you're about a third less likely to get prostate cancer. This is not quite as bonkers as it seems. Even though finger length is set in utero, it seems to be set in response to (among other things) testosterone level, which in turn influences prostate development and function.
