Former Microsoft CFO abruptly leaves job at GM

Chris Liddell, former chief financial officer at Microsoft, has abruptly left his job as CFO at auto maker General Motors. The Associated Press reports Liddell is resigning as of April 1.

Liddell said he had no job lined up, according to the AP, but no longer wants to be CFO.

Liddell left Microsoft at the end of 2009 after five years, saying he wanted to pursue a higher position elsewhere. Here is what the Microsoft press release said when the company announced he would be leaving: "He said he is looking at a number of opportunities that will expand his career beyond being a CFO."

A few months later he was named CFO at GM.

Here is the full story from the AP.
